I guess this episode can go well with the Halloween a few weeks ago. XD
The Sakura festival is almost close, and Nanaka was asked by her uncle to perform a dance as a part of the celebration. One time she was asked by her friends to join out in a karaoke party, but because of the dance, she had to refuse. The next day, she saw Sana and Asami together in a store, talking about a nursing home while buying a collar for a cat in it. Asami invited Sana to visit it on the weekend, and he agreed. Nanaka happened to pass by the two of them, and started to feel the usual episode of jealousy again. As she tried to run from them, she was already found by the two. Sana explained the their coincidental shopping and invited her to join visiting the nursing home as well.
Come Saturday, Sana and Nanaka were surprised to see Shuuri was also a volunteer in the nursing home. Sana spent his early hours playing a video game with one of the seniors, while Asami noticed that the java sparrow in the home is already missing, and suspected the cat for it [take note of this disappearance]. She also observes that one of the residents, Kaiji, is nowhere in the room. Upon learning that the old woman is sick and has been acting weird since her granddaughter’s death [disappearing all of the sudden then returning with her hands dirtied with mud], the group decided to visit her room upstairs. When Kaiji saw Nanaka, she mistaken her as her deceased granddaughter. Upon calming her down, she apologized for the sudden reaction. Kaiji told them how good her granddaughter was, and added she was also a good violin player. Upon learning this, Sana suggested Nanaka to play the violin for Kaiji, as she can play the violin fairly well too. But Nanaka suddenly refused, after remembering a sea of flames at the sight of the violin.
A few days after, the day for the Sakura festival has arrived. Sana and Aoi went together at the shrine to join Shuusuke and Shuuri, and unexpectedly, Hinako [when she found the giant yeti plushie Sana won in the shooting gallery a few minutes after]. When the dance was about to start, Nanaka prepares herself by soaking herself with water. While waiting for the performer, Shuusuke and Shuuri tells the story behind the sakura dance. It is said that any wish can come true if both sakura trees at the twin hills bloom together. The dance is performed for good harvest, although it was originally an offering of sacrifice way back. People then buried people alive as sacrifices – as Kaiji told Shuuri. Nanaka then appears on the stage and performed a well-made dance. After the dance, Sana finds Nanaka at the back of the shrine and complimented her for it… [insert a small romantic scene here].
This last scene is a the most disturbing though. We find Kaiji watching TV in a dark room. After giving a hint that she’s watching a news coverage about the sakura festival, it could also be observed that she was caressing the cat with a meaningful look in her eyes. I’m assuming she was the reason for the java sparrow’s disappearance by burying it alive, and she may plan to do the same for the cat as well in her attempt to bring her granddaughter back alive. A bit creepy episode, but I think they’ll follow this mystery in another episode.
